50° nord fédère sur le territoire eurorégional plus de 30 structures de production, de diffusion et de formation supérieure de l'art contemporain. Galeries associatives, centres d'art, structures nomades, associations d'artistes, musées, Frac, établissements de formation… développent des projets artistiques dans des contextes très divers. Ces lieux mènent des actions complémentaires et témoignent de la richesse de la création contemporaine dans la région. Plate-forme professionnelle, catalyseur d'énergies et de projets fédérateurs, 50° nord œuvre à la valorisation de la scène artistique régionale et à la diffusion de l'art contemporain pour le plus grand nombre.

50° nord links more than 30 professional structures of production, promotion and higher education training courses in the field of contemporary art within the Euroregional territory. Associative galleries, art centers, itinerant structures, artists' associations, museums, the Frac regional art collection and educational establishments are all involved in developing quality art projects in a wide variety of contexts. These venues carry out complementary activities and reflect the wealth of the network's contemporary creative output. As a professional forum, a catalyst of energies and federal projects, 50° nord works towards the enhancement of the regional art scene in general and the promotion of contemporary art to the largest possible audience.

WATCH THIS SPACE

Watch This Space est la biennale organisée par 50° nord autour de la création émergente contemporaine. Elle se déploie sur le territoire régional/transfrontalier, présentant les projets que les lieux d'art contemporain du réseau conçoivent avec des artistes de la jeune création eurorégionale sélectionnés sur dossiers.

La 6ème édition se tiendra sur la période octobre-décembre 2011, avec une quinzaine d'expositions, des rencontres, soirées, parcours pour les publics… et sera exceptionnellement orientée vers le dessin sous toutes ses formes. La manifestation, pilotée par le réseau 50° nord, sera associée à Dessiner-Tracer, événement de l'Association des Conservateurs des Musées du Nord-Pas de Calais (octobre 2011-juin 2012), avec notamment des portfolios publiés dans les revues respectives des deux associations.

L'autre nouveauté est la création du Prix Fondation plage© pour Watch This Space #6, décerné à l'un des artistes par un jury composé de professionnels de l'art et de membres de la fondation d'entreprise. Le lauréat recevra un prix de 1000€ et se verra aussi proposer un projet d'édition originale sous forme de sticker – spécialité de l'entreprise plage© – édition qui sera offerte à l'artiste pour son propre usage. La Fondation plage© pour l'Art est partenaire de 50° nord depuis fin 2010 et soutient la biennale jeune création et l'Agenda papier semestriel du réseau.

Watch This Space is the biennial organized by the 50° nord Network around emerging artists. It takes place in the Nord-Pas de Calais region and the cross-border territory (Southern England and Belgium) and consists in coordinated projects and exhibitions that members of the Network (associative galleries, museums and art centers) set up with artists from the euroregional territory.

The 6th edition will be held over the October to December 2011 period. It will comprise about fifteen exhibitions, talks, special nights and visits for the public... and will be exceptionally dedicated to drawing in all its forms. The biennial, organized by the 50° nord Network, will be associated with the Dessiner-Tracer (Drawing-Tracing) event that is managed by the Association of Museum Curators of the Nord-Pas de Calais (October 2011-April 2012), especially through portfolios in the respective art magazines published by the two associations.

The other novelty lies in the creation of the Fondation plage© Award for Watch This Space #6, given to one artist by a jury composed of art professionals and members of the corporate foundation. The winner will receive a 1000 € prize and also be proposed the production of an original artist multiple on a sticker – produced by the plage company for the artist's use. Plage© pour l'Art corporate foundation is 50° nord Network's new partner, supporting the biennial but also the paper program 50° nord publishes twice a year about exhibitions that take place in the galleries, art centers and museums on the euroregional territory.

APPEL À CANDIDATURES

La biennale est ouverte à des artistes émergents du Nord-Pas de Calais, du sud de l'Angleterre et de Belgique, travaillant dans le champ des arts plastiques et visuels et susceptibles de construire un projet autour du dessin sous toutes ses formes. Les candidatures seront adressées au réseau 50° nord qui les diffusera à l'ensemble des lieux d'art contemporain adhérents. Les structures qui le souhaiteront pourront alors sélectionner un artiste et construire avec lui une exposition sur la période octobre-décembre 2011. Le réseau 50° nord organisera l'événement collectif avec une communication et des temps forts.

Chaque artiste sélectionné pour participer à la biennale sera ipso facto candidat au Prix Fondation plage© pour Watch This Space #6 et acceptera tacitement son règlement.

CALL FOR ARTISTS

The Biennial is open to emerging artists from the Nord-Pas de Calais region, Southern England and Belgium, working in the field of visual arts and interested in conducing a project around drawing in all its diversity. Applications have to be sent to the 50° nord Network which will then distribute them to all art institutions of the Network. Galleries, museums and art centers interested in participating will have to choose an artist and build an exhibition between October and December 2011. The Network will organize the event with a collective communication and highlights around all projects.

Each artist selected to participate in the Biennial will be ipso facto a candidate for the Fondation plage© Award and tacitly accept its regulation.
